Poems

To my own surprise, at some point I suddenly found myself writing poetry.

* * *

I am the anchor, firm, at rest
She is the wave who can't be guessed

I am the tree whose roots run deep
She is the bird no branch can keep

Her chaos sings, my presence stays
A dance of anchors, winds, and waves

Together, held in give and take
The sea, the sky, the world we make
* * *

The mind declares: this cannot stay
What warms you now will fade away
The heart replies: yet in her eyes
I glimpse a truth that never lies

The mind insists: that truth is clear
No lasting future waits you here
The heart responds: your truth is small
Hers reaches deeper, through it all

The mind demands: why play along?
This song is odd, some notes are wrong
The heart concedes: a little odd
Yet it's so precious, pure, like gold

The mind recalls: the more you stay
The harder it will hurt someday
The heart reflects: impermanence
Is how we learn life's deepest sense
